FTC sends payments to people who were charged for free trial offers
The FTC is sending Zelle payments to eligible people who were charged for “free trial” offers for cosmetics and weight loss supplements and didn’t cash their check sent by the FTC.
According to the FTC, AH Media Group marketed “free trial” offers for products with claims that they promote younger-looking skin or weight loss, including products called Amabella Allure, Adelina, Parisian Glow, and Tone Fire Garcinia. The company told people they only had to pay a small shipping and handling fee, usually $4.99 or less, to try the products. However, two weeks later, AH Media would charge them around $90 for the trial products. The company also enrolled customers in unwanted subscription plans with additional monthly charges.
The FTC first sent checks in June 2022 and PayPal payments in February 2026 which resulted in more than $5.2 million paid. Now, the FTC is sending Zelle payments to people who didn’t cash their check or accept their PayPal payment.
If you get a Zelle payment, the payment will be deposited directly into your bank account with a note about the settlement. The FTC never asks you to pay money to get a refund.
